Whether you are looking for something to entertain the kids with this Mothering Sunday, or this is a subtle way of getting a pressie, take a look at our super simple Mother’s Day gift ideas that your little ones can make with their own fair (sticky) hands!

Personalised Candle

What You Need:

  • White Candles
  • White Tissue Paper
  • Wax Paper
  • Coloured Felt-tips
  • Hair Dryer

Cut the tissue paper to fit around the candle. Your child can then decorate the paper using the felt-tips however they wish, though feel free to provide some subtle suggestions like ‘Mummy Is The Best’ or ‘Mummy Deserves All The Chocolate’!

Cut the wax paper to fit around the candle (though make sure it’s slightly larger than the candle). Wrap the tissue paper (with artwork) around the candle, then cover this with the wax paper. Using the excess wax paper to hold the candle, use the hairdryer to melt your child’s drawing onto the candle.

As the candle warms, the tissue paper underneath will start to melt onto the candle. Continue until the tissue paper has disappeared, then carefully remove the wax paper covering. Your child’s picture will now be embossed onto the candle.

Mother’s Day Egg Cup

What You Need:

  • Plain Wooden Egg Cup
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Permanent Pens
  • Acrylic Varnish

An incredibly quick and easy craft idea. Using the acrylic paints and pens, get your child to decorate the wooden egg cup however they wish.

Once the paint has dried, apply acrylic varnish over the whole egg cup and allow to dry. All you need to do now is boil an egg, cut up some soldiers, and deliver breakfast in bed!

Salt Dough Handprint

What You Need:

  • 4 Cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Cup of Salt
  • 5 Cups of Water
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Glitter

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Whilst it’s heating put the water, flour and salt into a bowl and knead for about 10 minutes.

Place the kneaded dough on a flat surface and roll out. Using large biscuit cutters of your choice (e.g. heart shaped) cut out the desired shapes for your ornament.

Have your child imprint their hand into the centre of the shape. Then make a hole in the top of the shape (this will be used to hang your ornament proudly!)

Pop the creation in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool and harden before the decoration begins. Your child can then decorate anyway they wish, using the acrylic paint. Once the paint has dried, cover the hand print in glue and cover with glue, shaking off any excess.

Heart-Shaped Bird Feeder

What You Need:

  • Box of Cheerios
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • String

Bend a pipe cleaner in half, to form a V-shape. Get your children to thread Cheerios onto the pipes, until completely covered, then bend into a heart shape, twisting the two ends together in the middle.

Repeat for 5 different pipe cleaners, linking them through each other as you finish each one, so you end up with a chain of cheerio hearts.

Finally, thread a piece of string through the top heart and hang in the garden – a perfect Mother’s Day gift for mummy and the birds.

Pasta Necklace

What You Need:

  • Various dried tube pasta shapes e.g. macaroni or rigatoni. Wagon wheels or bowties make a good pendant.
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • String
  • Drying Rack

Using the acrylic paints, help your child paint the dried pasta, leaving it on the drying rack to completely dry.

They can then take their painted pasta and thread it onto the string, adding a pasta pendent if they so wish, in the middle of the threading. Tie the ends and hey presto – a beautiful, hand-crafted necklace.

However, if pasta jewellery won’t hit the mark, then perhaps our mother and daughter bracelet sets will be a better idea. Designed to be worn by mother and daughter, each bracelet has a stunning central star that has been carefully crafted from sterling silver and embellished with micro-pave cubic zirconia stones. The star sits on an adjustable handmade silk bracelet, which comes in either pink, jade or grey. A thoughtful and beautiful piece, perfect for Mother’s Day.
