An excursion to a theme park is always fun for the whole family. Children love the rides and seeing animals, teens love the challenge and adrenalin rush of the more challenging rides and rollercoasters, and parents enjoy watching their children and, perhaps, spending a night relaxing away from home. Our list includes all of the best theme parks in the UK for your little ones to enjoy, plus some additional information to help your whole family have a wonderful outing.

Chessington World of Adventures and Zoo, Surrey

If your child loves animals, this is the theme park to visit. Different themed areas all have their own unique rides and attractions, the most popular of which are Land of the Dragons, Pirates Cove, Forbidden Kingdom, and Transylvania. The zoo house over 1000 animals – lions, tigers, gorillas, and more – and has the Sea Life Center and performing sea lions. Additionally, there are other transactions and 40 rides, including the Zufari Ride into Africa, where your child can see flamingos, antelopes, rhinos, and other animals. If you can, stay overnight in a themed room at the Azteca Hotel, which overlooks the wildlife enclosure. An overnight stay is a good decision at this park, since there is so much to do and see.

Drayton Manor Theme Park, Staffordshire

If your child is a Thomas the tank engine fan, they will love a day at this park. Thomas Land has twelve rides and separate play areas for your little ones and for your older children, there is Ben 10, with Air Race. Teens will enjoy Apocalypse, voted the scariest ride in the UK, and Shockwave, Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster with an 80 foot drop at 53 mph. The park also features a zoo that the whole family can enjoy. Plan to spend an entire day here.

LEGOLAND, Berkshire

With over 55 rides and attractions for children from three to 12, LEGOLAND has enough for parents and older children as well. Younger children will especially enjoy the dino safari, and rocket races, as well as water rides including the Atlantis Submarine Voyage, where a yellow submarine goes underwater to view over 50 species of fish. There is also a splash and play area – Pirate Shores – and DUPLO Valley. Parents and older children will enjoy the more challenging and exciting Nemesis, and Smiler, a rollercoaster with 14 loops and psychological effects that add to the thrill of the ride.

Paultons Park, Hampshire

If you little ones enjoy Peppa Pig, they will love Paultons Park’s Peppa Pig World, with seven Peppa-themed rides. For some reason, lines are not as long at this park as some others. Rides include a hand-crafted Victorian carousel and EDGE, where your older children can spin and swoop on a huge disc.

Twinlakes Theme Park, Melton Mowbray Leicestershire

A theme park specially designed for children with a zoo, castles, a child-sized assault course, and the adventurous slides at Excalibur, this has features that will appeal to every age. There is even a waterpark – Susanoo splash – with pools, water slides, and an exciting water drop.

We have listed the theme parks that provide the most rides and attractions for your little one, however, most parks have some attractions for little children. Check theme park websites for information about age-specific rides, as well as hours of operation and cost. With 29 parks to choose from, according to ThemeParks-UK, there is an almost unlimited amount of fun and adventure for your whole family, enough for years of great vacation fun!
