What Is A Guest Bed?

A guest bed is a bed that can provide a place for guests to stay when they come over. They can come in many variations – a popular kids guest bed can come with a trundle drawer that can fit a mattress. The trundle drawer sits neatly under the main bed frame so it doesn’t take up any floor space until it is pulled out and in use so it’s a fantastic space saver.

Or, if you’d like something more designed, you can get a beautifully upholstered guest bed. It looks more like a sofa than a bed, and takes a standard mattress, so this could easily be used in a spare room or downstairs space if you prefer.

Some high sleeper or loft bed combinations also include a fabulous pull-out sofa bed. Teens and parents alike love the functionality of this because it offers them a place to relax in the day and then a great spare bed when their friend comes over to stay.

Is A Trundle Drawer Suitable To Use As A Main, Everyday Bed?

Some trundle drawers have solid slats and some may have a solid base. They are designed for occasional use so we wouldn’t recommend using the trundle for long term use, but it’s there as and when you need it.

What Is A Day Bed?

A day bed is effectively a single bed with three enclosed or semi enclosed sides.

A day bed is great for younger children to help them feel enclosed and secure. It also offers great versatility and is very popular with teens because they’ve got a fully functional bed to sleep in at night, and in the day, they can add some cushions and use it just like a sofa. Perfect for when they are reading, studying, gaming and when their friends come over.

Day beds come in a range of colours, designs and finishes so there’s plenty to choose from. Many come with a trundle drawer too which makes a perfect guest bed. Other designs double the sleep space from a single to a double bed. The added spare bed fits neatly underneath the frame when not in use and then can be lifted and raised to the same height as the main bed when needed.
