There’s no doubt about it, a desk is very useful for children of all ages. When they are younger it is the perfect place for them to feel all grown up and create some art masterpieces, and as they get older it’s important, they have a quiet, dedicated place to study.
Picking The Right Desk
When selecting furniture for your child’s room it’s always good to keep in mind that their room will need capacity for a study space as they get older. Somewhere where they can keep all of their stationery and books with a good workspace on top, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the family, where they can focus and concentrate.
We have a wide collection of free-standing desks and also mid sleeper and high sleeper beds where the desk can be integrated.
Freestanding Desk
A free-standing desk will obviously take up floorspace which is fine if you have the room, but if space is limited then you may want to consider a bed frame with a fantastic pull-out desk. There are lots of different designs available – take a look at our collection of mid sleepers where some combinations that will include either a pull-out desk or have a modular standalone desk that fits neatly under the bed frame when not in use and then you can pull it out when it’s time to study.
Pull Out Desk
A pull-out desk is simply a desk that is attached by runners underneath the bed frame of a mid sleeper or cabin bed and then it can be simply pulled in and out when required.
A high sleeper can include an integrated desk that attaches to the bed frame. Often the desk will include further integrated storage like shelving or storage cubes, so this is a great option for older children and teens.
Whatever, furniture style you decide on, a desk will also give lots more storage space as many designs have integrated drawers, open niches, cupboards or shelves. The ideal place to store away books, stationery and games!
