Ask any child psychologist and they will tell you that a child needs to have their own personal space in their home, a sanctuary if you will, and a place that they can call their own. If you have several children and they are sharing bedrooms this becomes even more important. Thus, one of the best things that you can do for them, especially the younger ones, is to give them some type of Playhouse.

When I was growing up practically every Mother’s Day or Father’s Day I used to ask my parents “when is children’s day?” My mother, who was a wonderful woman, would always answer “every day is children’s day”. This answer of course was not exactly the one I wanted to hear but I resigned myself to my birthday and Christmas being the ‘best’ day for children (my criteria a little biased, I will admit).

Now that spring has returned to practically every part of the UK many folks are engaging in that perennial English favourite past-time; spring cleaning. The average person sleeps 8 hours a day. That’s exactly one third of their life that they spend in their bed. For children the time spent in bed is even longer and, in many ways, more important. A growing child needs at least 8 hours if not more to regenerate after a long day, develop into an intelligent and thoughtful human being and mature as well as possible. It is for this reason that a bed is one of their most important pieces of furniture.
